Principal Physical Planner

Duties and Responsibilities

Preparing county, metropolitan regional, rural, and physical development plans;

Guiding data requirements for the various categories of physical development plans;

Implementing physical planning policies and strategies; standards and programmes;

Conducting thematic regional and national studies;

Keeping a record of deliberations and c
ommunicating the decisions of physical planning liaison committees;

Advising liaison committees and overseeing enforcement of resolutions; and

Preparing annual state of physical planning reports on county, regional, urban, and rural physical development plans.

Requirement for appointment
For appointment in this grade, an officer must:

Have served in the grade of Chief Physical Planner, Job Group CPSB 07/ ‘M’ for a minimum period of three (3) years;

Have a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines; Urban and Regional Planning, Urban Planning, or Town Planning from a recognized University;

Be a corporate member of Kenya Institute of Planners or Architectural Association of Kenya (Town Planners Chapter);

Be a Registered Planner by the Physical Planners Registration Board;

Have a certificate in Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized organization;

Have a certificate in Computer Applications Skills; and

Have demonstrated merit and shown ability as reflected in work performance and results.
