Antenatal Corticosteroids for Improving Outcomes in Preterm Newborns (ACTION) Trial Project

Job Opportunity

The ACTION Trial project is a WHO Multi Country Trial to be conducted in three hospitals in Kenya which include Thika level 5 hospital, Nakuru level 5 hospital and Coast General Teaching and Referral hospital.

Study Coordinator

(1 Position)

Qualifications

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education or its equivalent with a pass in English.
  • Kenya Registered Nurse Midwife or Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse or a degree in Bachelor of Science degree

Experience

The applicant must have 5 years working experience in a maternity unit preferably in labour ward and newborn unit.

The applicant must be computer literate and have basic managerial skills and experience.

Applicants with experience in clinical research will have added advantage

Among other duties the applicant will be required to:-


  • Work closely with the ACTION Investigators and the data manager
  • Work closely with the study site coordinators and study nurses in issues of:
    • Training
    • Staff recruitment
    • Oversight of data collection
    • Oversight of data management
    • Coordination and facilitation monitoring and auditing
    • Maintenance of registers of randomized participants
    • Maintenance of effective and ongoing communication with stakeholders

The study coordinator will operate from University of Nairobi, Dept of Obstetrics and Gynaecology
