The Strategies for Northern Development (SND) is a local non-governmental organization working with Nomadic Pastoralist Communities in Northern Kenya and Southern Ethiopia. SND is guided by a vision to see a society where all Pastoralist Communities are resilient and live a dignified life.

Key areas of focus include;

(1) Peace Building and Governance,

(2) Food Security, Sustainable Livelihoods and Resilience,

(3) Child Protection and Education,

(4) Water, Sanitation and Health and

(5) Humanitarian assistance.

We are seeking application from an experienced, pro-active and well-organised Office Manager to join our team at newly opened Moyale Cluster Cross Border office.

Key Competence

Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in relevant field from a recognized University

A minimum of three years’ work experience in similar position

Strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and self-initiative

Excellent written, verbal communication, interpersonal skills; high quality document and report preparation; excellent presentation skills

Good computer skills

High level of integrity at work

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Be able to work under pressure as may be required;

Be a team player and innovative

Roles and Responsibilities


Reporting to Finance and Admin Manager, the Office Manager (OM) will be responsible for the successful delivery of all Operations functions within our head office in Moyale.

The OM will be responsible for the management of facilities, utilities and office contracts, procurement processes for the head office, general administration, ensuring the effective provision of support services and compliance with SND’s and donor’s regulations and effective maintenance and management of its assets.

Other Roles and Responsibilities:

Facilities and Asset Management

Lead and manage the entire scope of facilities management tasks for SND HQ;

Responsible for all head office leases and contracts with suppliers (offices, utilities, security and cleaning/maintenance contracts etc.)

Front office presence including meeting visitors and post handling.

Establish and maintain a central asset register for SND head office and ensure full implementation of and compliance with all asset management regulations.

Responsible for health and safety compliance in the head office.

Procurement and Logistics

Responsible for procurement, supplier list and service level agreements with office supplies, office machinery (e.g., photocopier), courier services, kitchen supplies, cleaning, etc. for SND head office.

Ensure compliance with all procurement and logistics regulations applicable for SND and its donors in the head office;

Manage and maintain contractual agreements and relationships with vendors/contractors and all service providers.

Coordinate business travel visits (flights, visa, accommodation) for SND head office staff and visiting field staff;

Maintain purchase request tracking and numbering.

Prepare purchase requests and collect invoices for payment in coordination with finance.

Human Resources

Address employee queries about office management issues

Assist the HR department with head office employee on-boarding, induction and orientation

Undertake other duties as required
