Kenya Investment Authority Consultancy on Quality Management System ISO 9001-2008 Project

A. Background

Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest) is a statutory organization established by an Act of Parliament, the Investment Promotion Act, and No. 6 of 2004.

It is charged with the responsibility of promoting and facilitating investments and providing necessary assistance to both local and foreign investors.
The function of KenInvest include: 
  • Providing information on investing in


    Kenya;
  • Assistance in the identification of investment opportunities;
  • Organizing visits and meetings with public agencies and economic operators;
  • Identification of joint venture partners;
  • Assistance with site location;
  • Appraisal and approval of investment projects;
  • Issue of Investment Certificate;
  • Assistance in timely acquisition of necessary licenses, clearances and permits;
  • Facilitating applications for duty free import of machinery, equipment, raw materials and spare parts; and,
  • Assistance in obtaining work and residence permits for international investors and expatriate staff.
The Authority would like to engage the services of a Consultant/consultancy team to develop, implement ISO 9001-2008 Quality Management Systems.
B. Objective of developing a quality Management System

KenInvest is committed to providing very competitive and quality services to investors and other clients. This is expected to result into increased efficiency and effectiveness, improved quality of service, cost savings, fewer mistakes, less re-work, less waste, increased customer satisfaction, increased competitiveness, better use of time resources and improved communication.

The ultimate objective is to be able to deliver world class quality services to all clients. It is in this regard that KenInvest would like to have ISO: 9001:2008 Certification.
C. Scope of Work

The individual consultant or firm will be expected to guide KenInvest in developing QMS that will ensure Certification under ISO: 9001:2008 standards. The consultant will work with and train staff of KenInvest to develop necessary documented procedures and processes leading to certification.
D. Specific Requirements

The consultant will be expected to undertake the following:
  • To develop training plan and conduct necessary training to certify KenInvest to ISO 9001:2008
  • Assist in development of documentation processes and necessary manuals
  • To assist in implementation of procedures and processes for certification
  • To train and conduct internal audits
  • To assist in obtaining of KenInvest Quality Management System under ISO 9001:2008
E. Competencies

The preferred firm should have demonstrated experience in ISO standards training, implementation and assessments, and have extensive knowledge in the implementation of the International Quality Models. Should also be registered with KENAS.

Documents should be clearly marked: PROPOSALS FOR CONSULTANCY SERVICES FOR DEVELOPMENT, IMPLEMENTATION OF ISO 9001-2008 QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS-KENINVEST 123/2009/2010.

Bids will be opened publicly immediately thereafter in the Conference room located at Kenya Railways Headquarter Block D 4th Floor.

Bidders or their representative are free to attend. Late bids will be returned unopened.
