Assistant Accountant Job in Kenya - KICL

Assistant Accountant providing accounting and administrative support including cash management and reconciliations, requiring a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting with CPA-K/CPA Section III or ACCA and 3+ years experience, in a real estate environment, on-site role.

Job Purpose

The Assistant Accountant provides accounting and administrative support to ensure effective and efficient coordination of financial operations. The role supports accurate financial reporting, cash management, receivables, payment processing, reconciliations, and payroll administration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all customer deposits are accurately receipted in the ERP system within 24 hours and issue receipts and statements.
  • Ensure all cheques and banked funds are reconciled and processed daily.
  • Prepare daily cash flow reports and submit to the Finance Manager / Company Accountant.
  • Respond promptly to shareholder and customer account-related queries.
  • Post supplier invoices into the ERP system and respective ledger accounts upon verification.
  • Prepare approved payment vouchers and ensure payments are posted with proper authorization.
  • Follow up and collect outstanding receivables and monitor installment balances.
  • Perform weekly and monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, cashbooks, creditors, and debtors.
  • Assist in payroll administration and statutory remittances (PAYE, NHIF/SHIF, NSSF, HELB, Housing Levy).

Academic & Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or related business field.
  • CPA-K / CPA Section III or ACCA equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting and financial record-keeping.
  • Advanced proficiency in ERP systems and MS Excel.
