Joinas Sacco is hiring a Teller to process deposits and withdrawals assist members, and ensure accurate daily reconciliations. Experience in a Sacco, microfinance institution, or commercial bank will be an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities
The
successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Receiving, verifying, and accurately posting members’ cash and
cheque deposits over the counter.
- Processing and posting loan repayments into members’ loan accounts.
- Processing cash withdrawals upon positive member identification and
confirmation of sufficient account balances.
- Maintaining teller cash holdings within the approved limits and in
accordance with the Society’s policies and procedures.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all daily cash
transactions.
- Ensuring the safe custody of cash, documents, and other valuables
before handing them over to the designated custodians.
- Ensure compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC), Anti-Money
Laundering (AML), and all internal policies and procedures.
- Handle member information with the highest level of confidentiality
and ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act, 2019, and the Sacco’s
data protection and privacy policies
- Reconciling daily cash transactions and surrendering any excess cash
above the authorized teller limit to the Treasury.
- Processing and accurately posting agency banking transactions,
including M-Pesa and other payment channels.
- Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor
from time to time.
Qualifications and
Experience
- A Diploma in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration,
Cooperative Management, or CPA Part I or II or its equivalent
- A Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Economics,
Business Administration, or a related discipline will be an added
advantage.
- At least one (1) to two (2) years’ experience in a teller, cashier,
customer service, or banking environment.
- Experience in a Sacco, microfinance institution, or commercial bank
will be an added advantage.
