MW East Africa & Associates is recruiting a detail-oriented, highly analytical, and hands-on Senior Accountant on behalf of our client, a prominent and rapidly growing firm within the construction industry.
The successful candidate will take full ownership of the day-to-day financial operations, drive robust project accounting, and maintain rigorous regulatory compliance to support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Job Costing & Project Accounting: Maintain
accurate work-in-progress (WIP) tracking, analyze project profitability,
allocate direct/indirect construction costs, and prepare detailed billings
against project milestones.
- Financial Management & Reporting: Oversee
full-cycle general ledger operations, monthly and annual financial
closures, bank reconciliations, inventory control, and proactive cash flow
forecasting.
- Taxation & Statutory Compliance: Guarantee 100%
compliance with local statutory obligations, including timely preparation
and filing of VAT, PAYE, WHT, NITA, NSSF, and SHIF via Kenya Revenue
Authority (KRA) iTax and eTIMS platforms.
- Accounting Systems Management: Utilize QuickBooks daily
to manage transaction entry, maintain ledger integrity, generate custom
management reports, and optimize reporting workflows.
- Audit & Internal Controls: Coordinate external audit
engagements, enforce internal financial controls, and maintain clear audit
trails across all project accounts.
Requirements
- Professional Credentials: Must be a Certified Public
Accountant of Kenya (CPAK) in good standing.
- Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years of
progressive, hands-on accounting experience. Direct experience within the
construction, engineering, or real estate sector is strongly preferred.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced, practical
expertise in QuickBooks (Desktop or Online) is strictly
required.
> Note: Candidates will undergo a
practical, live QuickBooks competency test during the interview process.
- Regulatory Expertise: In-depth working knowledge
of Kenyan tax laws, eTIMS integration, and iTax processes.
- Core Competencies: Strong analytical
capabilities, excellent leadership skills, high ethical standards, and the
ability to operate efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
