Community Mobilizer, Health, Job in Kenya - World Vision

Community Mobilizer – Health at World Vision. Responsible for mobilising communities to participate in health programmes, conducting health awareness activities and supporting community outreach Requires a relevant qualification in community development, public health, social sciences, or a related field. The role is based in Kiambogoko with duties performed on-site.

Key Responsibilities

Planning and implementation:

  • Support the implementation of the Global Fund Project at the sub county level.
  • Strengthen community awareness and sensitization for improved TB service delivery and use of TB services by the communities in their sub counties
  • Ensure close partnership with communities to influence decision makers in uptake of TB services;

  • Ensure that existing business processes, standards and guidelines related to TB initiatives are effectively implemented within the communities;
  • Work closely with the AP Manager and Global TB Project officer in identification of existing gaps in TB programming at the community level through information sharing avenues to handle project activities effectively.
  • Ensure timely and appropriate utilization of budgeted resources for each sub county activities.

Data Collection and Monitoring

  • Continuously monitor Community led monitoring (CLM) groups interventions, through peer monitors and superusers and other community groups including TB champions mentors, field monitors and other TB actors implementing initiatives on TB
  • Responsible for implementation, monitoring, evaluation, documentation and dissemination of promising practices for TB interventions in the project area at the community level.
  • Convene and support the data collection meetings in the sub county by the field monitors, community health promoters and TB actors at the facility level.
  • Conduct onsite data verification on a monthly basis
  • Compile activity reports and submit to the Project officer for review.
  • Collect relevant community data including; contact tracing forms, treatment interrupter forms, contact invitation forms ,x-ray vouchers and invoices, peer monitors monthly summary reports ,support groups reports and other activity reports, among others to support the compilation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports for Global Fund TB project as per work plan.

Community Capacity building

  • Mobilize community groups for trainings, TIBU App architecture/TB regimen, I monitor App sensitizations and organize logistics within the sub county.
  • Build the capacity of partners including; peer monitors, superusers Support groups of DRTB and DSTB Groups to enable them effectively to intervene in the area of TB.
  • Take a lead in building community’s capacities in TB and other health issues through trainings and review meeting.

Documentation

  • Document and share relevant deliverables for Global Fund Project in the sub-County especially stories of impact and human-interest stories.
  • Work Together with the subcounty TB coordinators ensure all the data collected both at community level and facility level is captured in the TIBU platform
  • Maintain a depository of community reports, photos and videos related to the implementation of each Global Fund project activities.
  • Support documentation and share best practices on TB within the Sub County for sharing at the Sub County, county, regional and national levels

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Public Health, Nursing Sciences, clinical medicine. Degree in Nursing Sciences, Clinical Medicine, Public health will be an added advantage
  • At least 2-year experience in Health programming especially with Global Fund -TB will be highly valuable
  • The holder of this position must be result oriented who can handle heavy workload as well as manage and satisfy multiple, and at times conflicting organizational, donor and other stakeholder demands
  • He /she must also have ample experience in public relations and be a strong team player
  • Computer proficiency in use of MS Office ((Excel, word, PowerPoint etc)
  • Strong communication skills and excellent data collection, and documentation
