KenGen Staff Retirement Benefits Scheme is hiring an Accounts Assistant skilled in financial record-keeping, payment processing, bank reconciliation, petty cash management, and ledger entries.
Job Purpose
- The Accounts Assistant is responsible for providing accounting,
financial administration and reconciliation support to ensure timely
processing of financial transactions, maintenance of accurate accounting
records and compliance with applicable financial policies, procedures and
reporting requirements.
- The role serves as an entry-level professional position within the
Finance function and supports the development of future accounting and
finance professionals.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Financial
Transaction Processing
- Process payment vouchers and financial transactions in accordance
with approved procedures.
- Assist in preparation and processing of receipts and banking
transactions.
- Verify supporting documentation for payments and financial
transactions.
- Maintain accurate records of financial transactions.
- Assist in posting transactions into the accounting system.
Accounts
Reconciliation
- Prepare bank reconciliations and follow up on outstanding
reconciling items.
- Assist in reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
- Support reconciliation of investment-related financial transactions.
- Assist in preparation of creditor and debtor reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve routine reconciliation discrepancies.
Financial
Reporting Support
- Assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial
reports.
- Compile accounting schedules and supporting documentation.
- Support preparation of statutory and regulatory returns.
- Assist in preparation of management reports and financial analysis
schedules.
- Maintain proper financial records and documentation.
Budget
and Audit Support
- Assist in compilation of budget information and expenditure
monitoring schedules.
- Support internal and external audit processes.
- Provide financial records and supporting documentation required
during audits.
- Assist in implementation of audit recommendations.
Compliance
and Controls
- Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Maintain proper custody and filing of accounting records.
- Support implementation of internal control measures.
- Assist in monitoring compliance with statutory and regulatory
requirements.
Stakeholder
Support
- Respond to routine finance-related inquiries.
- Support engagement with banks, auditors, service providers and other
stakeholders on routine finance matters.
Other

Qualifications
Academic
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or another closely related
discipline from a recognized university.
Professional
Qualifications
- Actively pursuing CPA (K)/ACCA or any other recognized accounting or
finance professional qualification.
Experience
- A minimum of one (1) year relevant experience.
