Overall
Responsibility
The Accountant will be responsible
for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the hospital, ensuring
accurate financial reporting, effective revenue management, statutory
compliance, and robust internal controls to support sustainable healthcare
service delivery.
Key
Responsibilities:
1.
Manage daily accounting functions,
including cash management, receivables, payables, and the general ledger.
2.
Prepare, review, and present monthly
management accounts, financial statements, and variance analyses.
3. Support budgeting, forecasting, and monitoring of expenditures against approved budgets.
4.
Ensure timely and accurate bank
reconciliations and effective cash flow monitoring.
5.
Oversee patient billing, invoicing, and
revenue reconciliation across all service points.
6.
Manage reconciliation and follow-up of
SHA/SHIF, private insurance, and corporate claims.
7.
Monitor debtor aging reports and lead
recovery efforts for overdue accounts.
8.
Ensure application of pricing, discounts,
waivers, and write-offs in line with approved hospital policies
9.
Prepare and submit statutory returns
within prescribed timelines.
10.
Coordinate internal and external audits
and implement audit recommendations in a timely manner.
11.
Review supplier invoices, payment
schedules, and contracts for accuracy and compliance.
12.
Monitor procurement expenditure and flag
variances, irregularities, or budget overruns.
13.
Maintain fixed asset registers, oversee
depreciation, and conduct periodic asset verification.
14.
Collaborate with stores and pharmacy
teams to strengthen inventory management and cost controls.
15.
Identify financial risks, leakages, and
inefficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
Job
Requirements
1.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance,
or Business Administration (Accounting/Finance option).
2.
CPA (K) Part II minimum.
3.
Minimum of three years’ relevant
accounting experience, with at least two years in a healthcare or hospital
setting.
4.
Proven experience in revenue cycle
management and statutory compliance.
5.
Solid knowledge of Kenyan tax laws and
healthcare regulatory requirements.
6.
High level of integrity, confidentiality,
accuracy, and attention to detail.
