Primary Role:
The Accounts
Payable Officer will be responsible for ensuring
accurate, timely, and compliant processing of all supplier and service provider
payments in line with hospital policies and healthcare regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process and verify supplier invoices, ensuring
accuracy, proper authorization, and compliance with hospital policies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounts
payables records and schedules.
- Prepare payment vouchers and process payments
through bank transfers, cheques, and other approved methods.
- Reconcile supplier statements and promptly
resolve discrepancies.
- Liaise with procurement, stores, and user
departments to confirm receipt of goods and services.
- Ensure statutory deductions (e.g., withholding
tax, VAT where applicable) are correctly applied and remitted.
- Support month-end and year-end closing
processes, including preparation of AP reports.
- Maintain proper documentation and filing for
audit and compliance purposes.
- Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards in
handling financial and patient-related information.
- Any other duty as may be assigned
KEY
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft
Excel.
- Good understanding of Kenyan tax and financial
regulations.
- High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention
to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA (K) or ACCA Finalist
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in accounts
receivable, preferably within a healthcare or hospital environment.
- Prior experience in a hospital, mental health
facility, or healthcare setting is highly desirable
