Finance Manager Job in Kenya (250-300K)

Reporting to: Chief Financial Officer,

Gross Salary: Kshs 250-300k,

Our client is one of Kenya’s largest furniture retailers, looking to hire a Finance Manager who will be responsible for supervising and monitoring the activities of accounting, reporting and the reconciliation functions of the department, as well as overseeing financial reporting in accordance with the accounting standards and the relevant government regulations.

Responsibilities and duties

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts and circulation to the board
  • Analysis of SAP accounts to identify irregular transactions and obtain explanations
  • Prepare and maintain undelivered sales invoices report monthly branch wise and combined
  • Keeping track of advance payments to suppliers monthly
  • Monitoring cashflow performance monthly
  • Preparation of the budget for the year
  • Comparison of monthly management accounts against budget for any inconsistencies

  • Comparison of Year-to-date performance against budget for any inconsistencies
  • Comparison of Year-to-date performance against prior year balances for any inconsistencies
  • Comparison of monthly management accounts to prior year balances for any inconsistencies
  • Monitoring the daily cash position of the company
  • Review of the daily bank reconciliations
  • Ensuring timely completion of and review of monthly bank reconciliations
  • Ensuring the accuracy of financial documents, as well as their compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Regular monitoring of SAP postings and recordings in correct accounts and periods
  • Reviewing tax returns and ensuring that taxes are paid properly and on time
  • Coordinating with tax consultants on tax payments, computations and compliance
  • Coordinating with the accounts team and tax consultants on any KRA related matters
  • Overseeing the finance of real estate projects whilst coordinating with contractors on invoices and payments
  • Coordinating with the auditors for the annual financial audit
  • Preparing forecasts for banking facilities and coordinating with the banks for facility renewals
  • Evaluating financial operations to recommend best-practices, identify issues and strategize solutions, and help organizations run efficiently
  • Ensuring the goals and obligations of the company are met
  • Maintaining efficiency and effectiveness at all departments and branches
  • Reviewing all supplier payments made
  • Ensuring timely debtors & creditors reconciliations are done
  • Monitoring and evaluating monthly petty cash expenses
  • Ensuring and adhering to company policies and KRA regulations.
  • Assisting on financial statements, internal & external Audits, KRA audits & queries and compliance audits / VAA inconsistencies / Vat exemptions.
  • Ensuring timely submission of relevant taxes: PAYE / WHT/ VAT / levies / duties.
  • Providing data and information to investors, directors and relevant managers.
  • Perform any other duties as may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • CPA (K) / ACCA qualification is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, relevant tax laws, and financial reporting standards.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Proven experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and cashflow management.
  • Strong leadership, team management, and people development skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • High integrity, strong decision-making ability, and sound business judgment.
