Assistant Accountant Job in Kenya - KICL

Kimisitu Investment Company PLC is looking for an Assistant Accountant to support daily accounting operations. This is a one-year renewable contract. The successful candidate will report to the Company Accountant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receipting and Postings: Accurately receipt customer deposits in the ERP system on the day of receipt and ensure accurate postings.
  • Reconciliations: Perform timely weekly, monthly, and periodic reconciliations for cashbooks, creditors, debtors, and ledgers, and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Payments and Invoices: Prepare and process approved payment vouchers, post supplier invoices promptly into the ERP system, and record all company payments with proper documentation.
  • Statutory Remittance: Assist in the remittance of statutory deductions such as NHIF, NSSF, taxes, and PAYE within the given timelines.
  • Reporting: Prepare accurate bank reconciliations by the 3rd of each month and send a daily petty cash analysis to the accountant before the close of business (COB).

  • Filing and Petty Cash: Maintain proper filing of all accounting documents and manage the company’s petty cash in line with company policies.
  • Customer Service: Respond promptly to shareholder and customer account queries or complaints, and send statements to customers/debtors by the 10th of each month.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A degree in a business-related course is required.
  • Professional Certification: A minimum of CPA II qualification is mandatory.
  • Experience: At least three years of accounting experience is needed.
  • Skills: Proficiency in MS Excel and experience with ERP systems (preferably Microsoft Dynamics Navision) are essential
