Communications Assistant Job in Kenya - Pendekezo Letu

Pendekezo Letu is a child rights civil society organization working to promote and protect the rights and welfare of children in Kenya, with a focus on advocacy, access to justice, child protection systems strengthening and community empowerment. We partner with government, civil society organizations and communities to ensure that every child enjoys their rights in a safe and supportive environment.

Position summary

We are seeking a dynamic and creative Communications Assistant to support our communications and advocacy efforts. The successful candidate will contribute to strengthening the organization’s visibility, managing social media and digital platforms, documenting success stories and supporting the implementation of the communication strategy.

Key Responsibilities


  • Assist in developing and implementing the organization’s communications strategy.
  • Manage social media accounts (Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) and website updates.
  • Draft and edit press releases, newsletters, blogs and reports.
  • Design and produce communication materials including flyers, posters and infographics.
  • Document project activities, success stories and case studies (photography, videography and written content).
  • Support media engagement and build relationships with journalists and other stakeholders.
  • Assist in organizing advocacy campaigns, workshops and events.
  • Maintain the organization’s communications database and media contacts.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in communications, media or NGO work (internships/volunteering experience will be considered).
  • Excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills.
  • Strong digital and social media management skills.
  • Basic design and multimedia skills (Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar tools) are an added advantage.
  • Photography and videography skills desirable.
  • Passion for child rights and social justice.
