Samburu Girls Foundation (SGF) is dedicated to improving the well-being of children, adolescent girls, and young women in Samburu County and its surrounding region of Kenya through education, health, and social support.

Job Summary

The Communications and Advocacy Assistant will manage SGF’s communications and visibility, including social media, branding, and event logistics. They will develop and implement strategies to amplify advocacy and impact stories, train participants in media, communication, and storytelling through the SGF media salon, and help build
and maintain the organization’s positive image with both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:


  • In collaboration with the Learning Support Officer-TVET and the Programs Manager, develop and
    implement a communications strategy aligned with the program goals of SGF.
  • Create and produce internal newsletters and blogs for the organization, monitoring media alerts and
    relevant publications.
  • Prepare the necessary content and script for educational and publicity videos. .
  • In collaboration with the Learning Support Officer-TVET and the Programs Manager, develop a
    Communication Skills, Media Skills & Storytelling guide in collaboration with the SGF team and
    participants.
  • Manage the organization’s social media communications through daily content creation, posting, and
    scheduling across our platforms i.e. YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok.
  • Manage communication between the organization and their target audience by monitoring and
    responding to comments, messages and community interactions promptly with the goal of building a
    positive image and reputation.
  • Develop engaging visuals, videos, and infographicsthat resonate with the target audience.
  • Create interactive social media contents and campaigns to promote program activities, including flyers,
    newsletters, and campaign graphics.

Minimum Qualifications and Details

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Media Studies, Marketing, Journalism, Event Management, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in communications, media relations, or public relations, ideally in an NGO, educational, or youth-focused environment.
  • Hands-on experience in creating and producing videos, podcasts, and other multimedia content for both internal and external communications.
  • Experience in writing impact reports, newsletters, blogs, and other written content.
