Our Client, a financial services provider seeks to recruit an Assistant Legal Collections Officer.
Reporting
to: Legal
Collections Officer
Contract
Duration: 6
Months, with possibility of extension
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Managing the non-performing,
active legal control and bad debt portfolios
- Managing the litigations process
including but not limited to:
- Brief Attorneys to institute
litigation, liquidation, sequestration, eviction and auction
proceedings
- Liaise with borrowers make
settlement agreements offers and payment arrangements
- Liaise with vendors including but
not limited with attorneys, liquidators, valuers, property agents and
auctioneers
- Attend to drafting of internal
processing documents
- Attend to drafting demand
letters, formal letters to borrowers or their representatives and
settlement agreements
- Manage repossessed property
portfolio
- Give weekly feedback on the
progress of matters
Qualifications and Education requirements
- An LLB qualification with at
least two years relevant experience or must have at least 4 years’
experience in Debt collecting and credit management, being a Certified
Credit Professional will be an advantage
- She/he will have to be familiar
with litigation proceedings, Rules of the High Court and Magistrate’s
Court and Company Law, The National Credit Act and Consumer Protection Act
- She/he must have a strong network
in the court system and land offices
- The person must have excellent
negotiation and communication skills and must have knowledge and
experience of liquidations, sequestrations, credit management and debt
collecting.
