Job Purpose:
To
lead the coordination and execution of the bank’s strategic initiatives through
strategy formulation coordination, project management and operational
excellence. This role ensures that all strategic initiatives and projects are
delivered efficiently and are aligned with the bank’s objectives, while driving
effective resource utilization, continuous process improvement, and successful
change adoption to enhance overall performance.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy
Support
- Coordinate the formulation of the bank’s strategic and triennial
development plans to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Lead the development of annual departmental work plans, ensuring
integration of strategic priorities.
- Monitor execution of strategic initiatives and work plans to ensure
alignment with budget, timely delivery and achievement of intended
outcomes
- Track and report performance against predefined strategic targets,
facilitating course correction where necessary.
- Support alignment of project selection and funding with strategic
priorities and available budgets.
- Lead the annual review of the local and Group budgets, working with
stakeholders to prioritize and fund critical strategic projects.
Project
management
- Supervise planning, execution, and monitoring of projects to ensure
alignment with the bank & Group strategic priorities, delivery on
time, within scope and budget drive a high project success rate.
- Establish a structured, criteria-based approach for project
selection, prioritization, and validation based on quantified strategic
criteria.
- Monitor and optimize resource utilization by ensuring balanced
allocation of capacity and financial resources across the project
portfolio to improve utilization and delivery efficiency.
- Monitor and report on project portfolio performance, assessing
success rates, impact, and benefits realization.
- Maintain a master project plan to ensure visibility of all key
milestones and interdependencies.
- Developing and maintaining cordial relationships with respective
stakeholders at Local, Regional and Group levels to ensure smooth running
of projects and escalation of issues for resolution.
Organizational
Excellence and Change Management
- Lead continuous process improvement initiatives to support
excellence in service delivery and operational efficiency.
- Continuously monitor & evaluate to ensure the bank’s procedures
and processes remain up-to-date and in line with the best practices.
- Lead change management initiatives to support organizational
transformation, stakeholder engagement, and seamless adoption of new
processes.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and operational
excellence across the bank.
Stakeholder
& Communication Management
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key
stakeholders at local, regional, and group levels to ensure project
momentum, effective escalation, resolution, and collaboration.
- Keep sponsors and the broader project management community informed
through structured communication plans.
Reporting
- Provide portfolio updates through weekly reports to DMD, monthly
executive dashboards to top management and quarterly reports to the Board.
- Provide a weekly update to DMD for ongoing process improvement
initiatives and quarterly reports of closed initiatives and the realized
benefits.
Team
Leadership and management:
- Guide and mentor project teams throughout the full project lifecycle
to build professionalism, ownership, and delivery capacity ensuring
project success and stakeholder value.
- Build project management discipline and professionalism.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Post graduate degree in Technology, Business, Finance or a Related
Degree
- Professional Certifications- Including PMP/Prince 2, Lean Six Sigma,
MS Office Suite
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years’ successful management experience of individual
projects and project portfolios ideally working within Financial Services
- Experience in general banking with exposure to multiple departments
(desirable) including Project Management.
