Summary: Senior Library Assistant at Kabarak University. Responsible for supporting library operations, assisting students and staff with information resources, organising materials, and maintaining library records. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain archives and records management services within
the Library and University
- Identify, collect, preserve and archive historical information,
photographs, videos and other institutional records
- Conduct records surveys and appraisal exercises to support effective
records management and retention
- Acquire and prepare archival materials for conversion into
appropriate formats, including digitization and restoratio
- Process, preserve and upload local digital content such as past
examination papers, conference proceedings, theses, dissertations and
research articles.
- Provide access to non-current information and archival resources to
library users, participate in night and Saturday shifts, and perform any
other duties assigned by the University Librarian
Qualifications and skills
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Library Studies, Library and Information
Science or a related field from a recognized institution
- Must be computer literate and proficient in the use of library
management systems and digital information resources
- At least three (3) years of relevant working experience in a large
or academic library
- Membership with the Kenya Library Association (KLA) or any other
relevant professional body
- Knowledge of digitization, digital archiving and management of
electronic records.
- Demonstrated knowledge of archives, records appraisal, preservation
and retention procedures
