The
Financial Accountant in overseeing and managing all financial and stock
controls, forecasts and certain administrative duties pertaining to staff and
lodge financial issues. Additionally, the Financial Accountant oversees
the operations, accounts and stores staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurate recording and management of financial information for all
business units – Suyian Lodge
- Maintaining and improving high financial standards and discipline
- Management, Mentorship and training of the account clerks
- Meeting finance deadlines
- Training of staff from various backgrounds and skill levels
- Collation and resolution of general ledger queries
- Assist lodge finance Controller on general queries
- Reconciling various accounts including clearing accounts and inter
lodge transactions
- Interpretation and analysis of management accounts
- Where applicable participate in monthly finance meetings with the
financial controller to discuss financial performance
- Ensuring correct authorization and allocation of business
expenditure
- Maintaining stock control procedures and assisting with stock
counts.
- Assist in monitoring the controls within the lodges and conducting
internal audits
- Participate in development and implementation of systems and
procedures
- Assist in the compiling of budgets and quarterly re forecasts
- Assist all staff with Panstrat system.
- Review and ensure compliance of Front of House systems
- Assisting with year-end audit
- Review and reporting of capex spend to budget
- Collation and accuracy of Sustainability Stats, compilation of
Sustainability statistics
- Assist handle and coordinate with Government on renewal of all camp
operating licenses
- The Implementation and / or maintenance of financial systems,
processes and procedures ensuring the accuracy of data as extracted from
multiple platforms
- Monitoring the vehicle fleet through statistical reporting
- Processing of local financial transactions over accounts payable and
accounts receivable at the lodge in compliance with the group financial
policies and procedures
- Reconciliation of local supplier statements to the general ledger
- Loading and review of all local creditor’s payments
- Preparing and submitting to Nairobi the weekly cash flow
requirements
- Check and approve all cheque payment vouchers emanating from the
camp
- Assist in managing all payments paid via M-pesa platform in
conformity with the laid down procedures
- Ensure that all statutory audits i.e NEMA, Health and safety, fire,
motor inspections, public health, airstrip inspections and Eco Tourism
audit are done as they fall due.
- Compile the monthly payroll input schedules and ensure that the
payroll complies with the prevailing employment Act and the Union
collective bargaining agreement.
- Approve and check all local orders prior to being authorized by the
General Manager.
- Ensure optimal operation of the camp IT system and report any
failures to IT department
- Compile the monthly leave and off schedule and the physical stock
count schedule.

SKILLS AND EXPERINCE
REQUIRED:
- CPA III,
- Degree in Bachelor of commerce,
- Completion of an Excel assessment upon interview
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting field and inventory
management
