Our client, a fast-growing retail business operating liquor stores, is seeking a competent and reliable Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting operations and ensure accurate financial records.
The role is responsible for overseeing all financial transactions, including fixed payments, variable expenses, bank deposits, budgets, and statutory compliance, while providing timely and accurate financial reports to management.
Key Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping and Accounting Operations
- Record day-to-day financial transactions accurately.
- Maintain and update general ledger accounts.
- Reconcile bank accounts, supplier accounts, and other balance sheet
items.
- Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile financial transactions and
cheque issuance.
- Document and substantiate financial transactions through proper
audit trails.
Financial
Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other
financial reports.
- Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings.
- Analyze financial information and summarize the organization’s
financial status.
- Produce accurate, error-free accounting reports and present findings
to management.
- Support month-end stock takes and prepare stock reconciliation
reports.
Tax
Compliance and Regulatory Adherence
- Prepare and file statutory and tax returns in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax laws,
and regulations.
- Advise management on relevant financial laws, standards, and best
practices.
Management
Support and Communication
- Report on the organization’s financial performance and provide
insights on resource utilization, tax strategies, and budget assumptions.
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding financial matters.
- Maintain regular communication with the Manager and/or Director on
work progress and any client-related issues
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business
Administration, or a related field.
- Professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, or
equivalent is required.
- Minimum of 4–5 years’ relevant accounting experience, preferably
within retail or FMCG environments.
- Strong knowledge of taxation, statutory compliance, and financial
reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP
systems) and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with inventory management and stock reconciliation is an
added advantage.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and strong analytical
skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
