Role Overview
The Communications & Networks Lead supports both CER-K and ERP
by guiding external communications, strengthening stakeholder and farmer
networks, and coordinating the joint ERP–CER-K launch in 2026. The role blends
communications, community engagement, and network building to ensure our restoration
and soil-health work is well understood and well connected.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Communications for the
ERP–CER-K Kenya/East Africa Project Launch
- Coordinate all
communications for the April/May 2026 launch.
- Collaborate with Enwan
Media on messaging, press releases, and digital materials.
- Support event planning
and stakeholder engagement.
- Ensure content resonates
with Kenyan farmers, agencies, and partners.
- Provide local context for
briefs (scientific writing handled by CER-K scientists).
Build & Strengthen Field and Partner Networks
- Maintain and expand
networks with farmers, cooperatives, NGOs, and research partners.
- Share updates and gather
feedback from the field.
- Work with hub scientists
on field sampling coordination (non-technical).
- Represent CER-K/ERP
during outreach visits.
Support CER-K
Communications
- Provide stories, updates,
and field insights for digital channels.
- Ensure consistency of
CER-K messaging across projects.
- Contribute to content
direction.
- Provide input for website
updates (not responsible for website management)
Regional Engagement Roadmap
- Identify key contacts and
opportunities for East African expansion.
- Provide a high-level
engagement outline (not a full strategy).
Educational & Community
Engagement Support
- Help organize workshops,
field days, and school/community sessions.
- Coordinate logistics and
communications with hub educators.
Reporting & Coordination
- Weekly coordination calls
with CER-K and ERP teams.
- Coordinate with ERP
communications and science teams
- Quarterly
communications/engagement updates.
- Basic monitoring of
outreach and partner engagement.
- On occasion, meetings
with ERP teams globally might need to be held slightly outside of regular
office hours
Candidate Profile
- 2-4 years of experience
in communicating about agriculture, agroforestry, ag-tech,
climate/environment, or community engagement.
- 2–4 years of experience
engaging farmers, stakeholders, and networks, coordinating events, and
executing external communications in agriculture or environmental work.
- Strong background in
Communications and Public Relations.
- Strong interest and
understanding of the Kenyan/East African agricultural or forestry
landscape/ecology.
- Proven ability to
translate scientific concepts into an accessible language.
- Willingness to travel
within Kenya and occasionally in the region
