Responsibilities
- Key responsibilities include support for the
Subprogramme implementation, ensuring alignment with the MTS, reviewing
project concepts for strategic alignment and ensuring synergies across the
Divisions and Regional Offices.
- The individual contractor’s work will be focused
on coordinating Subprogramme portfolio monitoring, reporting and analyzing
results internally and externally to Member States and stakeholders to
create impactful communication on the Subprogramme’s results.
- The individual contractor will be located in UN
Environment Programme / Ecosystems Division / Director’s Office. The
individual contractor will report to the Nature Action Global Subprogramme
Coordinator. – Compile results and validate data for the Nature Action
Programme Performance Report (PPR) 2025.
- Contribute to the strategic coordination of the
Nature Action Subprogram internally and across other subprogrammes as the
2026-2029 Medium-Term Strategy (MTS), and Programmes of Work (PoW)
implementation begins. – Facilitate the drafting of Nature action
monitoring and reporting framework for the 2026-2029 MTS and PoW.
- Prepare subprogramme inputs to the quarterly
reports to the Committee of Permanent Representatives (CPR), quality check
and recommendation for improvements on draft submissions from Divisions
and Regional Offices, verification of sources, and provision of additional
material.
- Identify challenges in results and impact
reporting and proposes corrective actions to the project managers and
divisions
- Contribute to the coherent design and
implementation of the subprogramme, across Divisions and Regional Offices.
- Contribute to reviewing project and programme
concepts and documents in alignment with the MTS Strategic objectives
while ensuring cross-fertilization and synergies among programmes.
- Consolidate technical insights, results and
strategic contributions to the UNEP Annual Programme Performance Report
2026
Qualifications/special skills
- Master’s University degree preferably with a
specialization in environmental sciences, biodiversity conservation,
sustainable management of natural resources, or related areas is required.
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressive
experience in the field of environmental sciences, biodiversity
conservation, environmental project management, international development
or related fields is required.
- Prior experience with biodiversity and natural
resources management projects, particularly in developing countries, is
desirable. Experience with the UN system, especially with UNEP, is
desirable.
Languages
- English is one of the working languages of the
United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English (both
oral and written) is required.
