- A university degree in
engineering.

Role
objectives / summary
To lead and
direct the projects’ department in the execution and implementation of all
activities regarding each project awarded by initiating the planning and
reviewing program and giving technical support to the projects teams.
Duties
and responsibilities
- Plans, directs, and coordinates
activities of all projects to ensure that goals or objectives of all
projects are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding
parameters.
- Reviews project proposal or
plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for
accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available
resources to various phases of project.
- Establishes work plan and
staffing for each phase of project, and arranges for recruitment or
assignment of project personnel.
- Confers with project staff to
outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of
authority.
- Directs and coordinates
activities of project personnel to ensure all projects progress on
schedule and within prescribed budget
- Reviews status reports prepared
by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required. Prepares
project reports for management, client, or others
- Confers with project personnel
to provide technical advice and to resolve problems
- Responsible for overall quality
and management of major projects or programs
- Allocation of duties to project
technicians, advising on the training needs of the technicians in liaison
with the human resource officer and ensuring that all technicians are trained
on the most updated version of the operating procedures and time
management.
- Appraisal of the project
supervisors in liaison with the human resources officer
- Expected to assist in the
recruitment of personnel involved in projects
- To be an exemplary leader
- To mentor the juniors in the
projects department
- Be able to handle difficult
sites by assisting the project supervisors
- Must be flexible make to make
site visits
- Must at all times exercise best
corporate and industry practices.
- Undertake any other duty as
assigned by management.
Qualifications
- A university degree in
engineering.
- Accredited engineer
- 5 years of experience in a
leadership position in the industry
- Minimum of a diploma in project
management
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Good computer skills,
proficient with Microsoft office applications.
- Age: Above 30years
Work conditions
- The holder may be required to
work extra hours to meet project deadlines.
- Sitting for extended periods of
time.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers
to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other devices and objects.
- Physically able to participate
in training sessions, presentations, and meetings.
- Some travel may be required for
the purpose of meeting with clients, stakeholders, or off-site
personnel/management.
Person specification
- Demonstrated ability to
establish and maintain effective relationships and partnerships with key
stakeholders.
- Must have Customer Service
Skills
- Demonstrated experience in
leading and managing complex projects that are strategic in nature and
national in scope.
- Knowledge of labour force
strategies would be an asset.
- Excellent organizational skills
with demonstrated ability to execute projects within the planned time and
budget.
- Strong interpersonal,
communication, facilitation and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem
solving skills.
- Ability to work independently
and with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate
effectively in both official languages is an asset.
- Must be able to apply
innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee
performance.
