Job Title: Facilities Attendant
Responsible for supporting the safety, security,
cleanliness, and general upkeep of institutional facilities and student
residences, conducting routine inspections, managing keys and facility records,
preparing meeting rooms, supporting events, and ensuring emergency equipment is
available and functional. Requires a Certificate in Housekeeping,
Administration, Facilities Management, or an equivalent qualification, with at
least two years’ experience. The position is based in Nairobi and requires
on-site work.
Job Description
To support the safety, security, and general upkeep
of institutional facilities, including student residences, through routine
inspections, maintenance reporting, and housekeeping and event support.
Key
Responsibilities
Enforce
hostel policies on visiting hours, ensuring strict adherence to timekeeping.
Uphold
safety and security standards in the hostels to protect students and their
property, monitor compliance with security protocols.
Patrol
hostel premises regularly, checking for running water left on, misplaced items,
hazards or property requiring maintenance and repair.
Ensure
all security lights are in proper working condition, promptly report and follow
up on repairs or replacement.
Manage
the issuing and tracking of keys, safe return of keys and maintain accurate
records.
Conduct
daily inspections of operational areas and facilities to identify maintenance,
safety or cleanliness issues.
Coordinate
and supervise cleaning and housekeeping activities to maintain hygiene
standards within the hostels.
Coordinate
and oversee the movement, storage and proper use of equipment and furniture.
Prepare
meeting rooms by arranging tables, chairs, equipment, and other requirements as
needed.
Assist in
events before, during, and after including setup, on-the-day support and
breakdown.
Ensure
all emergency readiness equipment like first aid kits, fire extinguishers and
evacuation procedures are in place and functional .
Perform
any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
Education, knowledge and experience
Certificate
in Housekeeping, administration, facilities managament or equivalent; a diploma
in the related field will be an added advantage.
At least
2 years of experience in hostel, facilities or property management.
Knowledge
of the operations of a university will be an added advantage.
Skills and Competencies
Strong
organizational and record keeping skills.
Knowledge
of safety and sanitation regulations.
Excellent
customer care skills.
Good
verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Must be
result oriented, self-driven, articulate, and pro-active.
Flexible,
and able to handle multiple concurrent tasks, work with speed and under
pressure .
Quick
learner willing to go the extra mile .
