Our client, a well-established company in the travel and tourism industry, is looking to hire an experienced Financial Accountant to manage the company’s end-to-end accounting function.


The ideal candidate should have strong accounting experience, preferably within the travel industry, with exposure to air ticketing, bookkeeping, reconciliations, payroll, taxation, statutory compliance, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end accounting function and maintain accurate books of accounts.
  • Handle daily accounting transactions, including data entry, invoicing, receipts, payments, and expenses.
  • Manage accounting activities related to air ticketing and travel transactions.
  • Perform bank, supplier, customer, and other account reconciliations.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Prepare and process monthly payroll.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Prepare and present management accounts and financial reports.
  • Prepare cash-flow reports, budgets, and other financial schedules.
  • Ensure timely filing and payment of taxes and statutory obligations, including PAYE, VAT, withholding tax, and other applicable taxes.
  • Maintain proper records for tax and audit purposes.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing relevant financial documentation.
  • Monitor financial transactions and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records and reconciliations.
  • Provide financial information and insights to support management decision-making.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA(K) qualification is required.
  • ICPAK membership is required.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounting.
  • Experience in the travel and tourism industry will be an added advantage.
  • Exposure to air ticketing and travel-related accounting is highly desirable.
  • Strong experience in end-to-end accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Good knowledge of Kenyan tax and statutory requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and reporting skills.
  • Ability to prepare and confidently present financial reports.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality.
