NLAS is hiring a Principal Accountant skilled in public financial management, budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance framework execution.

Qualifications
For
appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
- At least nine (9) years’ cumulative work experience, three (3) years
of which must have been at the grade of Senior Accountant or in a
comparable position in the Private or Public sector;
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Commerce
(Finance/Accounting Option), Economics, Business Administration/Management
or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
- Part III of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Examination or
equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
- Been a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants
(ACCA) or any other relevant professional body in good standing;
- Certificate in Management Course
- Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance;
Duties and Responsibilities
The
Principal Accountant is responsible for the following functions:
- Processing payments;
- Monitoring revenue collection and expenditures based on approved
budgets;
- Applying sound principles, systems and techniques in accounting for
Finances assets, revenue, expenditure and costs;
- Accounting for special funds, programmes and projects funds;
- Verifying financial reports;
- Verifying bank reconciliation statements;
- Monitoring revenue collection and expenditures based on approved
budgets;
- Authorizing payments and claims within set limits as approved;
- Verifying and receipting of all monies due and payable to NLAS;
- Analysing and reporting on revenue collected to Management;
- Ensuring safe custody of accountable documents;
- Preparing quarterly financial management reports;
- Authorizing of Payments and claims within set limits as approved;
and
- Ensuring maintenance of proper books of accounts;
Remuneration
will be in accordance with NLAS Salary Scale:
