Looking for a conservation job in Kenya? Corporate Staffing Services is recruiting an Ecology & Wildlife Research Officer position for a wildlife conservancy organization. The job is based in Nairobi. Proficiency in ecological monitoring, data analysis, GIS, and scientific reporting is required.
Our client is a Wildlife
Conservancy organization which works as a model and catalyst for the
conservation of wildlife and its habitat. They are seeking a motivated and
experienced Ecology and Wildlife Research Officer to support and strengthen its
wildlife and ecological monitoring programmes across its contiguous areas.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate wildlife,
biodiversity, and bird monitoring programmes using established scientific
protocols.
- Lead in Avifauna
monitoring programmes
- Manage and analyse
ecological datasets, including bird monitoring and camera trap data.
- Lead wildlife monitoring
activities, with a focus on species status, population trends, habitat
use, and species interactions.
- Produce high-quality
scientific reports and communicate findings to diverse audiences.
- Support elephant
monitoring, vegetation management assessments, and conservation research
initiatives.
- Maintain research
databases, inventories, and monitoring records.
- Supervise research
assistants, students, and field monitoring activities.
- Assist with planning,
budgeting, and administration of research and monitoring activities.
- Any other duties as may
be assigned from time to time.
Job
Specifications
- Bachelor’s degree in
wildlife management, Ecology, Conservation Biology, Environmental Science,
Natural Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5)
years’ experience in ecological, ornithological, biodiversity, or wildlife
research and monitoring.
- Strong data management,
analytical, GIS, reporting, and scientific writing skills.
- Experience in avian
monitoring and citizen science programmes will be an added advantage.
- Excellent communication
and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated, highly
organized, and able to work independently and as part of a
multidisciplinary team.
