Reporting to the finance manager, the role holder will be responsible for ensuring accurate receivables management, posting, and reconciliation of all accounts receivable transactions.
The Receivables Accountant will also ensure timely collection of debts, manage non-fuel receivables and insurance claims in line with the company’s policies and existing agreements.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate and issue accurate invoices, credit notes, debit notes, and
customer statements
- within established timelines.
- Verify pricing, billing information, and transaction records to
ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Maintain accurate customer account balances and ensure timely
allocation of receipts and payments.
- Monitor outstanding receivables and proactively follow up with
clients to ensure payments are received within agreed credit terms.
- Conduct account reconciliations and resolve billing or payment
disputes in a timely manner.
- Monitor customer credit limits and contractual spending thresholds,
escalating potential risks where necessary.
- Prepare receivables ageing reports and recommend actions to minimize
overdue debt.
- Support debt recovery initiatives for overdue accounts and
coordinate escalation processes where required.
- Provide regular reports and insights on collections performance,
debtor status, and revenue trends.
- Plan and organise for credit control meetings
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related
field.
- CPA or equivalent accounting qualification.
- 2-3 years’ experience in Accounts Receivable, Credit Control,
Revenue Compliance, or a similar finance role (preferably in FMCG or oil
and gas sector)
- Experience working with accounting or ERP systems such as Sage,
QuickBooks, SAP, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting
- Immediate availability is preferred
