Key Responsibilities
The
successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing strategic financial planning and implementation of the
University Budget(s)
- Developing, implementing and monitoring implementation of effective
financial, accounting and administrative policies and procedures that
ensure economic utilization of university resources;
- Preparing statutory financial and annual reports in conformity with
the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and other relevant
regulatory Bodies.
- Providing liaison for both internal and external auditors, and
safeguarding the integrity of financial reporting.
- Ensuring that the University complies with all statutory returns and
ensure that the University remains compliant with national and any
international legislation(s)
- Overseeing the daily operations of the department and provide advice
to management on resource optimization strategies for the University.
- Managing the University revenue collection and overseeing sound
tracking and utilization of the research grants and institutional
endowments.
- Managing, mentoring and reviewing performance of the finance and
accounting department staff.
- Providing administrative support to all the University departments
and enforce the University’s financial policies and procedures.
- Preparing useful, relevant and timely management reports as per the
University calendar.
- Supporting any other official duty/ies that may be given by the
University’ Management.
Qualifications
Applicants
should possess:
- A Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administra- tion,
Commerce, Economics, or a related field from a recognized university.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Business: Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of
Business Management, Bachelor of Business Administration or any other
business-related degree from a recognized university.
- CPA (K) qualification, ACCA finalist or an equivalent professional
accounting certification and a member of the relevant Professional Body.
- A registered member of a relevant professional body and be in good
standing.
- At least five (5) years of post-qualification relevant experience in
finance, accounting, budgeting, auditing, or financial management,
preferably in a university, public institution, or similar organization.
- Knowledge of financial management regulations, accounting standards,
and internal control systems.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and other financial management soft- ware
and versed with relevant Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. Evidence of
continuous professional development and training.
- Strong analytical, financial reporting, and planning skills.

- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
