Qualifications
For
appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –
- cumulative service period of twelve (12) years, three (3) years of
which must been in the grade of Assistant Director, Reception Services,
CSG 7, or in comparable and relevant position in the public service;
- a Bachelors Degree in any of the following disciplines: Public
Relations, Public Relations and Customer Care, International Relations and
Diplomacy, Hospitality Management, Sociology, Governance, Public
Administration, Anthropology, Political Science, Business Administration
or equivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya; and
- demonstrated high degree of professional competence and
administrative capability required for the effective planning, direction,
control and coordination of the Government Reception Function.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties
and responsibilities will include: –
- developing and reviewing government reception policies, procedures
and strategies;
- developing procedures on professional and etiquette standards;
- identifying sites for official, presidential and state functions;
- supervising service providers during official, Presidential and
State functions;
- initiating preparation of the Government guest list for official,
Presidential and State functions;
- providing input in the preparation of presidential briefs;
- coordinating state and official funerals;
- coordinating activities of service providers during official,
Presidential and State function;
- coordinating preparation of menus for State luncheons, dinners and
banquettes;
- developing and reviewing protocol manual;
- coordinating distribution of invitation cards for national days and
state functions;
- identifying sites for official, Presidential and State functions;
- preparing Order of Precedence in liaison with other stakeholders;
- sensitizing government departments on protocol matters;
- preparing strategic/ workplans; and
- training and development of staff.
