Girl Child Network (GCN) is a National Network of Organizations working to improve programming in the children sector through advocating and promoting the rights of children. GCN is seeking to recruit a Project Assistant to support implementation of the ongoing Green Youth 360 Project, a 3-year project implemented in Dadaab and Kakuma Refugee Camps and within the host communities. The Project works with public primary and secondary schools, supporting youth between 15 to 24 years to acquire green skills and take action in four climate action areas of Youth in Tree Planting, youth Renewable Energy, youth in clean environment/waste management, youth in agriculture.

To support acceleration of achieving the project targets GCN is seeking to employ Project Assistants. Working under the Project Officer, the Project Assistants will assist in the implementation of the day-to-day project activities, data collection, and reporting within the target schools and communities within the project and any other duties assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Requirements:


  • Minimum Diploma in community development, environmental studies, or any other relevant social sciences from a reputable institution of higher learning, degree will be an added advantage.
  • 2 years of experience in project management and coordination specifically in sectors of green skills or climate change adaptation
  • Ability to mobilize diverse groups of community members
  • Experience in advocacy, partnership-building and networking
  • Strong facilitation skills including familiarity with training in participatory methods and excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Experience with monitoring and evaluation and capacity to produce quality, timely reports
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with significant experience of working with children
  • Commitment to human/children’s rights and an understanding of rights-based approaches; and the application of the same
  • Ability to effectively manage time.
  • Certificate of Good Conduct
