Key Responsibilities
- Monitor financial transactions, ensuring
accuracy and compliance with internal policies and donor requirements.
- Prepare and maintain financial statements,
budgets, and reports.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring
timely payments and collections.
- Monitor grant funds, track expenditures, and
ensure compliance with grant agreements.
- Develop financial policies and procedures to
enhance efficiency and transparency.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial
reports for management and donors.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations,
statutory obligations, and financial audits.
- Work with project teams to develop budgets and
financial plans for proposals.
- Conduct financial reconciliations and audits to
maintain financial integrity.
- Provide financial guidance and support to
management and relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance,
Business Administration, or a related field.
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or ACCA
(Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) qualification required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in
accounting, with at least 3 years in grants management.
- Experience working in non-profit organisations
or donor-funded projects is an advantage.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g.,
QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations,
budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Ability to analyse financial data and provide
strategic recommendations.
- Strong organisational and time-management
skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal
skills.
- Reporting Line
- The accountant will report to the chief
executive officer and will work closely with the senior program associate
and the administrator to ensure financial accountability and compliance.
