Kofa is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Associate who will play a critical role in setting up and managing the accounting function in Kenya. You will work closely with the Financial Accountant and CFO to ensure accurate financial records, compliance with local regulations, and smooth financial operations. This role offers a unique opportunity to join an ambitious, mission-driven company at an early stage of its Kenyan operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up accounts for Kofa Kenya, in collaboration
with the Financial Accountant and CFO.
- Maintain accurate and timely financial records,
including general ledger entries, reconciliations, and month-end close
processes.
- Prepare and file statutory returns (e.g., VAT,
PAYE, corporate tax) in accordance with Kenyan regulations.
- Support the preparation of management accounts,
budgets, and forecasts.
- Assist in cash flow management, accounts
payable, and accounts receivable processes.
- Ensure compliance with internal financial
policies, investor requirements, and audit processes.
- Liaise with external stakeholders such as
auditors, tax consultants, banks, and suppliers.
- Provide financial data and analysis to support
decision-making by the Financial Accountant, CFO, and wider leadership
team.
- Support process improvements to enhance
accuracy, efficiency, and transparency in financial operations.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or
related field.
- Professional accounting qualification or
progress towards one (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in accounting, finance,
or audit, ideally in a high-growth or start-up environment.
- Strong knowledge of Kenyan tax, accounting, and
statutory compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to
detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced,
dynamic environment.
