About the role
This role
will be building on strong organisational knowledge and practice in both gender
and race. This broader DEIB work also bridges our external programmatic
knowledge and internal organisational approaches for application across our
global context. We recognise that as people and society evolve, so to does our
understanding in these areas. The social construction of identity and their
politicisation globally is continually changing. Therefore, we expect this work
to adapt as this happens, whilst being grounded in our mission and values. We
have a desire to be a learning organisation that ensures our people feel like
they belong and diversity in all its forms, is understood, respected and
welcomed.
This role
leads an evolutionary and values-based approach to our focus on Diversity,
Equity, Inclusion and Belonging, within Christian Aid. Our aim is to ensure
that our values are living and breathing examples of who we are on the inside
reflecting the commitment to the work we do on behalf of the organisation.
Leading a small team but a big community of practice, this role will support
the organisation and its leaders in living our values, creating a safe and
welcoming place to work so that our people feel like they belong and are
respected for each part of their unique identity.
About
you
Looking
for someone who is a passionate expert, is committed to progress over
perfection. Worked globally previously. High emotionally intelligent. Good at
influencing and working with others.

position is based.
At
Christian Aid we strive to be an inclusive and diverse employer and recognise
the value that this brings in helping to build strong, creative and high
performing teams.
We are
actively encouraging racialised minorities, LGBTQ+, people with disabilities,
returning parents or carers who are re-entering work after a career break,
people with caring responsibilities, people from low socioeconomic backgrounds,
women, and older workers to apply. This is because these groups are
under-represented within our teams, especially at senior level, and we
recognise and value the contributions members of these groups make to strong,
creative and high performing teams.
We have a
strong Christian ethos and we encourage applications from all faiths and none
(with the exception of Director positions where there is a genuine occupational
requirement to be a practicing Christian – Exempted under the Equality Act
2010).
All
successful candidates will require a DBS/police check appropriate to the role
and location and a Counter Terrorism Sanction check as part of your clearance
for commencing your role with us. We also participate in the Inter Agency
Misconduct Disclosure Scheme. In line with this Scheme, we will request
information as part of the referencing process from job applicants’ previous
employers about any findings of sexual exploitation, sexual abuse and/or sexual
harassment during employment, or incidents under investigation when the
applicant left employment. By submitting an application, the job applicant
confirms their understanding of these recruitment procedures.
