Job Description
Basic Salary Scale: Ksh 50,610 – Ksh 67,110 p.m.
House Allowance: Kshs. 16,500 p.m Commuter Allowance: Ksh 8,000 p.m. Leave
Allowance: As provided in the Civil Service Annual Leave: 30 working days per
financial year Medical Cover: As provided by the Government Terms of Service:
Four (4) years Contract
Requirement for Appointment
Be a Kenyan Citizen
Have served in the grade of Senior Public
Communications Officer or in a comparable and relevant position in the Public
Service for a minimum period of three (3) years;
Be a holder of a Bachelor’s Degree from a University
recognized in Kenya in any of the following: Public Relations, Journalism,
Media Studies/Science, Information Science or a related field.
Have a clear understanding of the working of the
media and the socio-political environment in Kenya;
Possess good oral and written communication skills
both English and Kiswahili;
Possess advanced computer skills; and
Have shown merit and ability as reflected in work
performance and results
Have minimum Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations/
Media Communication
At least three (3) years relevant experience
Duties and responsibilities
Coordinate all public relations activities including
publishing of brochures, handbooks and flyers
Updating the County website in liaison with the IT
section; Portray a positive public image of the County;
Coordinating outreach programmes with various
stakeholders; Prepare press-release to media stories and ensure proactive media
reporting via the available channels;
Have initiative and drive and excellent interpersonal
skills to handle various interest groups;
Any other duties that may be assigned from time to
time.
