Key Duties and
Responsibilities
Initiating and Reviewing Design Standards
and Guidelines
Checking & making reports on Road
Safety Audits compliance by road agencies
Undertake collision analysis studies,
road safety inspections, road safety impact assessments and road safety audits
and inspections
Monitor & evaluate network safety
performance; effectiveness of infrastructure interventions; compliance by road
authorities and county governments; and progress against set road safety
targets
Develop Crash Information Management
System
Develop black spot programme in
liaison with other agencies and monitor implementation
Supervise Consultants on Road Safety
consultancies
Preparing Proposals for funding by
development partners
Conduct Research
analyzing the utilization of the human
resource in the Department and advising on proper transfers
Analyzing staff performance and career
progression and making appropriate recommendations
Ensuring correct interpretation and
implementation of policies, rules and regulations, supervising junior officers
and managing the duty stations.
Key Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Civil
Engineering, Traffic Engineering or a related field from a recognized
institution;
Master’s degree in Traffic Engineering
or Transportation Engineering or any other relevant disciplines from a
recognized institution is added advantage;
At least eight (8) years relevant work
experience, three (3) of which must have been in a supervisory position in the
Public/Private sector;
Attended Supervisory Course lasting
not less than two (2) weeks from a recognized institution;
Thorough and knowledgeable in road
safety issues, solutions and products. Highways design and collision
investigation (including prevention studies) experience is essential.
Experience in related Road Safety fields such as Research, Traffic Calming,
Local Safety Scheme, etc would be a particular advantage.
Should be a registered engineer with
the Engineering Board;
Proficiency in ICT; and
Shown merit and ability as reflected
in work performance and results.
