Job Title: Programme Officer
Responsible for coordinating day-to-day programme
activities, implementing workplans, organising trainings and supportive
supervision, coordinating community and faith-sector activities, tracking
deliverables and milestones, working with county and facility teams, supporting
data collection, quality improvement, identifying implementation challenges,
and preparing programme reports. Requires a Diploma or Degree in Nursing,
Medicine, or a related health field, with 3–5 years’ experience implementing
RMNCAH programmes. The position is based in Nairobi and requires on-site work.
Job Summary
Responsible
for coordinating the day-to-day implementation of Uzazi Salama activities and
ensuring that approved workplans are translated into timely action at county,
facility and community levels. Working under the Programme Manager, the
Programme Officer will organize and follow up implementation schedules,
trainings, supportive supervision, community and faith-sector engagement,
referral-strengthening activities, quality-improvement initiatives and
programme meetings. The role will maintain close working relationships with
county counterparts and implementing teams, track completion of activities and
action points, identify operational bottlenecks and ensure that implementation
documentation and routine programme reports are complete and up to date.
Key
Responsibilities
Coordinate
day-to-day implementation of approved programme activities in accordance with
the programme workplan, budget and agreed timelines.
Translate
annual and quarterly workplans into detailed activity schedules and coordinate
logistics, participation and follow-up for programme activities.
Coordinate
implementation of health-worker trainings, mentorship and supportive
supervision, community dialogues, faith-leader engagement,
referral-strengthening and quality-improvement activities.
Maintain
regular operational communication with county, sub-county, facility, community
and partner teams to support smooth implementation and timely resolution of
routine issues.
Track
activity completion, deliverables, implementation milestones and action points,
and provide regular implementation updates to the Programme Manager.
Identify
operational delays, implementation bottlenecks and emerging field issues and
escalate matters requiring management or strategic action to the Programme
Manager.
Support
preparation of activity concepts, agendas, participant lists, meeting
materials, field schedules and other programme implementation documentation.
Work with
the M&E Officer to ensure activity outputs and programme data are captured
accurately and that implementation teams respond to identified performance
gaps.
Work with
the Programme Accountant to ensure planned activities are supported by timely
financial and administrative processes and that activity accountabilities are
completed promptly.
Document
implementation experiences, lessons, good practices and field feedback to
inform programme improvement and reporting.
Contribute
to preparation of routine programme reports, presentations, meeting minutes and
partner updates.
Perform
any other duties commensurate with the role as may be assigned by the Programme
Manager.
Qualifications
Nursing/Medical
qualification (Diploma or Degree) in a relevant field.
Required Skills and Competencies
At least
3-5 years’ experience in successful field implementation of RMNCAH programs in
Kenya.
Demonstrable
skills in rolling out approaches that result in improved uptake of services
for, reproductive health, maternal health and family planning.
Experience
conducting training and capacity building related to data quality, data
dissemination and information use, and other M&E related issues for health
facility staff is critical.
Ability
to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and
intense pressure to perform; ability to manage several major multidimensional
activities simultaneously.
Experience
working on large donor-funded projects preferred.
Proficient
with Microsoft Office applications (Word, advanced Excel, and PowerPoint).
Strong
writing skills, including writing of reports.
High
level of initiative, integrity, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
