CIS Kenya is seeking a meticulous and analytical Accountant to oversee the full-cycle financial management of CIS Kenya’s accountancy function. In this role, you will ensure accurate bookkeeping, strict regulatory and statutory compliance, timely reporting, and exceptional stewardship of organizational resources. You will also provide strategic financial oversight to support our Governing Council and the Finance & Audit Committee.
Key
Responsibilities
- Financial Management & Bookkeeping: Manage daily cashbooks, monthly bank
reconciliations (payables/receivables), and donor funding accounts using
QuickBooks.
- Financial Reporting & Budgeting: Prepare quarterly expenditure reports,
strategic cash flow status statements, and detailed budget comparisons.
- Statutory & Tax Compliance: Handle accurate filing of PAYE, VAT, NSSF,
NHIF, and Withholding Tax (WHT) returns via KRA online and eTIMS systems.
- Audit Readiness & Asset Control: Ensure year-end audit readiness, maintain
the organization’s fixed asset register, and coordinate directly with
external auditors.
- Data Privacy: Strictly
uphold the provisions of the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019 in managing
sensitive financial and stakeholder data.
Qualifications
- Education & Qualifications: A Degree in Accounting or Finance, and a
fully qualified CPA (K) or ACCA finalist.
- Proven Experience: Minimum of 10 years in a similar
accounting role, with a solid working knowledge of Kenyan tax law.
Experience in an NGO, development finance, credit sector organization, or
an audit firm is highly desirable.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced Excel and financial reporting
skills, paired with deep proficiency in both QuickBooks Online and Desktop
versions.
