Our
client is a leading distributor of wines and beverages in Kenya, seeking a
highly skilled and experienced Head of Finance to lead our financial operations and
strategy. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in overseeing our
financial planning, risk management, reporting, and financial decision- making
processes. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical
abilities and a collaborative approach to working with other departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and
reports, ensuring compliance with Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
requirements.
- Submit required reports to the auditor for Kenya Revenue Authority
(KRA), including VAT returns, PAYE, and corporate tax filings.
Accounts
Management:
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable,
accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger management.
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial transactions,
maintaining comprehensive financial records.
Legal
Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all local laws and regulations pertaining to
financial and tax matters, including statutory contributions for NSSF,
NHIF, and other relevant government departments.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal requirements related to
finance and accounting in Kenya and implement changes as necessary.
Budgeting
s Forecasting:
- Lead the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts,
ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Monitor budget performance and analyse variances, providing insights
and recommendations to management.
Cash
Flow Management:
- Oversee cash management strategies, ensuring adequate liquidity for
operational needs.
- Develop procedures for effective credit management and collections,
minimising bad debts.
Internal
Controls:
- Establish and enforce internal control policies and procedures to
safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
- Conduct regular audits to assess compliance with financial policies
and operational efficiencies.
Stakeholder
Engagement:
- Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors, tax advisors,
and other financial service providers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business
initiatives and drive financial performance across departments
Team
Development:
- Mentor and develop finance team members, fostering a culture of
continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Ensure the team is trained and knowledgeable about local financial
regulations and practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or
professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive finance experience, with at least
3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of financial principles, practices, and
regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to
interpret complex financial data.
- Proven track record of financial management, budgeting, and
forecasting.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability
to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong leadership capabilities, with the ability to manage and
motivate a team.
